Counselling

After starting the immediate management of a sick child, parents are called for first counselling by the senior most intensivists, in which details about the present condition, likely outcome and duration of ICU stay are discussed with the parents/caregivers. Parents are also informed periodically about the dynamic changes in their children. One of the consultants takes a detailed counselling session with relatives for all the admitted patients. In these sessions, parents are free to discuss about their child’s condition, prognosis and treatment plan.
